Why don't both my tires spin sometimes when I do a burnout?

I have a 1996 ford thunderbird lx 3.8L V6. I burnout but sometimes only one of my wheels will start spinning, usually the left one. Its an automatic but when I do a burnout I drop it down to first, hit the gas then hold the brakes.
