Could I go 600 miles away from my college for an internship?

I am looking at going to school in North Dakota, but the most internship opportunities for my career (Public relations) are located in Minneapolis, which is a good 500-600 miles away. There aren't many opportunities for internships in North Dakota, and schools in Minneapolis are out of the question. Could I do my school internship that far away?
