3 kids beat up my cousin really bad... could have even killed him?!?

It's understandable that you were frightened, but it must be pretty hard living with yourself after you just walked away from your cousin without even trying to help. It was just self preservation instincts that kept you from calling the police, but I am absolutely certain you would have wanted (expected) him to help you.
